• Long-term cost savings – while some wiring protection methods may seem cost-effective initially, conduit-based solutions minimise maintenance and replacement costs over time, making them a more cost-efficient investment.
• Fire and environmental safety – understanding fire protection ratings like UL94 and UNECE R118 is essential for wiring safety. Dave Hurd explained how non-metallic conduit systems meet these stringent standards for fire and heat resistance.
• Self-levelling and vibration resistance – conduit harness systems prevent wires from twisting due to movement, providing a self-levelling effect that reduces strain and enhances reliability in high-vibration environments.
• Global compliance – attendees also gained insights into how UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) compare with US NEC 250 Article 362, helping businesses navigate compliance across different markets.
